With portable SSDs, protection is particularly important, which can hold loads of sensitive information. In order to secure the new portable SSD, a fingerprint sensor has been added to the updated T7 Touch, titled a CES 2020 Innovation Award winner.
The vice president of Samsung’s Brand, Mike Mang said “Consumers who are constantly on the go between work, play and passion projects want to be able to securely carry their content with them”.
The T7 Touch comes with password protection and AES 256-bit hardware encryption and built-in fingerprint scanner. It comes in a sleek titanium metal case, in black or silver, weighs just 58 grams and holds up to 2TB of data. There is also a “Motion LED” which allows users to track the device status with a glance.
The T7 provides slightly more speed than its competitor. The T5 has been one of the best portable SSDs repeatedly. The T7 Touch has a read speed of 1,050 MB/s and a write speed of 1,000 MB/s. It’s nearly twice the speed of T5.
The T7 Touch is available in over 30 countries starting this month. The retail prices offered by Samsung begin at $129.99 for 500GB. The 1TB option is for $229.99, and 2TB is available for $399.99.
